Diamonds and Diamond Rings
Whether you are looking for a classic round cut diamond, or a contemporary princess cut diamond ring, there are many things to keep in mind when choosing your diamond. Most people are aware of the 4 C's: Carat, Cut, Clarity and Color. All of these things are important to keep in mind, but a significant aspect guiding the decision is how the diamond appeals to you personally and the emotion it stirs.
Modern cut stones give off highly desired brilliance and fire, while older cuts of diamonds offer character with history and charm.
We have a wide selection of transition, old European, rose and mine cut diamonds.
- Transition Cut diamonds are in between the Old Euro cut and the modern brilliant stones of today. These diamonds have a larger crown and a smaller culet compared to older stones. The Transition cut is also known as the Early American Cut and was an attempt to be more precise in the cutting of diamonds.
- Old Euro Cut diamonds have side facets that are more slanted with smaller table top, and their culet is a flat spot creating the illusion of a hole in the center. This type of diamond was prevalent in the early 1900's through the 1940's.
- Rose Cut diamonds were popular until the early 1900's and are named for their shape, resembling the petals of a rose bud.
- Old Mine Cut diamonds were produced in the late 1800's. They are typically not round or square, but hold unique shapes resembling a cushion-like cut.
