As our very own, Jen Hankin prepares for her wedding to Jorden Barnard on Sunday, September 26, 2021, we wanted to share their When She Said Yes Story!
During a trip to the beach in the Summer of 2019, Jorden found a moment alone with Jen's dad, Lee. He asked if he could marry Jen and for help finding the perfect ring. As estate jewelers, Lee knew when the time was right the ring would come into Joint Venture Jewelry. Jen had always had an eye for vintage and an appreciation for anything Art Deco.
Not long after Jorden’s conversation with Lee, the perfect ring came into the store. He called Jorden immediately at work and told him to cancel his lunch plans and come check it out right away. From the moment Lee and Jorden looked at the ring, they both knew it was the one!

Now how to pop the big question?
Since Jen and Jorden were already under construction on their new home, Jorden's original plan was to propose the day they closed on the house. He thought, "new home, new life, new wife," it would be perfect! But as many know, the construction of the new house was riddled with issues and delayed like crazy. So Jorden knew he needed a new plan. He couldn't wait to make Jen his forever partner in life!

As the holidays were approaching, Jorden and Jen had planned a trip to the mountains of Asheville and a glamping experience at Sky Ridge Yurts in Bryson City. A nice little getaway between Christmas and New Years'! Their love story started with local craft beer, and since some of Jen & Jorden's favorite spots are in Asheville, this trip seemed like the perfect time to propose!
Jorden knew he wanted a private moment with Jen, without friends and family, just the two of them. He hired a photographer to capture the moment so they could share it with loved ones after.

On December 26, 2019, Jorden and Jen drove to Asheville early so they could enjoy their favorite breweries before catching the sunset on the Blue Ridge Parkway, a moment they missed the year before. Drinks at Green Man Brewery, followed by a few other stops, lead them to Hillman Brewing before driving around Blue Ridge Parkway. Jorden planned an easy, unforgettable hike along Craggy Pinnacle Trail, reaching the top at Sunset. It was there, in Barnardsville, NC Jorden dropped to a knee and asked Jen to be his wife! Later that night, Jen and Jorden realized the exact mountain town of the proposal, BARNARDSVILLE, and they just knew it was just meant-to-be!

Since Joint Venture Jewelry is a small family business, we will be closed from Saturday, September 25 - Tuesday, September 28 to celebrate Jen and Jorden with our loved loves.
With love & laughter,
Jen & Jorden
